Description
The Palo Verde Biological Station is a research station run by the Organization for Tropical Studies, and is situated within Palo Verde National Park. This national park was created to protect a huge wetland area important for a great number of aquatic birds and animals. Tropical dry forest is also protected in the national park and due to its remote nature, animals such as wild cats and peccaries are sometimes seen along its roads and trails. The biological station sits on a small bluff
overlooking one of the main marshes that is usually filled with wading birds. As student groups often use the station for research courses, make reservations to stay the night. It can also be experienced on day visits although this is somewhat of a long, rough drive from the nearest lodging.
