Description
Along with La Selva and Palo Verde, this is another biological station run by the Organization for Tropcial Studies. Hence its name, Wilson Botanical Garden is an especially good place to visit for botanists, passionate gardeners, or really for anyone who simply likes flowers. A walk through the outdoor garden is reminiscent of a visit to a tropical greenhouse except that one is outside, there are plenty of tropical birds, a sloth or two is up in the trees, and there are more amazing looking
plants than you have possibly ever laid your eyes upon. Trails also access excellent, middle elevation forest, and good facilities are available for researchers. All of these features make this place very popular among student groups so if you plan on staying at Las Cruces (and you can), make reservations in advance. Day visits are also possible and unlike La Selva, don't require a guide.
